Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America, slightly smaller than the state of New York and has an estimated population of 5,785,846. The country is bordered by Honduras to the north and Costa Rica to the south. The Pacific Ocean lies to the west of the country, the Caribbean Sea to the east. It is a beautiful country, and tons of history, but a country that is desperately in need. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Americas, and the only other country poorer than Nicaragua in the Western Hemisphere is Haiti. With an outstanding percentage of individuals living in poverty, Nicaragua is an ideal location to bless the lives of people living in true poverty. 79.9% of the population in Nicaragua live on less than $2 per day. Poverty is a day to day lifestyle for the majority of locals in Nicaragua.Although baseball as the most popular sport in Nicaragua, surfing is a very close runner-up. Sandwiched between two vast oceans and untouched scenery it is not without reason that Nicaragua has become one of the top surfing destinations in the world. Sandy beaches, some of the most consistent waves in the world, Nicaragua is a surfers paradise. But with thousands of travelers coming to Nicaragua each year to surf these “perfect uncrowded waves” many of the local children have no other option but to sit, watch, and dream. Many of them will surf and share old, broken, beat up, water logged boards. Maybe someone was kind enough to leave their broken board for a child to fix, but the truth of it all is, many children in Nicaragua will go their entire lives without every surfing the waves right in their back yard. It is our dream to give them that opportunity. We would like to invite you to join us on a trip to Nicaragua as we travel to San Juan Del Sur, Popoyo, and/or Managua to bring boards and the Truth to children living in poverty. It was to Nicaragua that our organization initially traveled to for our very first trip as an organization and it is Nicaragua that we intend to continue traveling to each year as we continue building relationships, bringing hope, sharing the Truth, and making a difference….one board…..one child at a time. Our trips to Nicaragua revolve around a number of different projects, activities, and outreach events. From orphanage, churches, and school building/remodeling projects, outreach events in the community, feeding the hungry, Surf Contests, Skate Contests, Surf/Skate lessons for children in the community, Showing Christian videos in the evenings, Vacation Bible Schools, beach evangelism, and many more. You are destined to experience a trip that you will never forget. We as an organization firmly believe that many times mission trips are more of a blessing for those going to minister to than those being ministered to. We hope that you too will have the opportunity to experience the true joy of blessing the lives of individuals in need.
